SALIDA SCHOOL LOCKED DOWN AFTER BURGLARY
The search for those responsible for a residential burglary resulted in an hourlong lockdown at nearby Salida Elementary School on Tuesday, authorities said. A homeowner in the 5000 block of Covert Avenue reported the burglary about noon and feared the culprits were inside the home, said Lt. Darin Gharat of the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department. Out of an abundance of caution, the school was asked to be on lockdown as deputies searched for three people, Gharat said. Deputies took one suspect into custody after a vehicle stop.
