Busy night for firefighters ends with house blaze

January 13, 2014

Firefighters from Modesto and Ceres responded to a blaze at home on East Hatch Road in south Modesto early Monday morning, the biggest call of a busy night.

According to a press release from Modesto Regional Fire Authority Division Chief Sean Slamon, firefighters were called to 1801 E. Hatch Road at 3:35 a.m. They arrived to find a single-story home fully engulfed in flames, threatening an adjacent structure.

Twenty-one firefighters responded; they had the fire out in 20 minutes. Nobody was home and no injuries were reported. Investigators believe the cause is accidental; damages are estimated at $50,000.

Slamons aid Modesto Regional Firefighters were kept busy throughout the night responding to various fires, most of them involving discarded Christmas trees. He said the Authority wanted to remind drivers to pull to the right and stop when they hear sirens.
