OAKDALE TO MEET
The Oakdale Unified School District board will meet at 6:30 p.m. today in the Oakdale City Council chambers, 277 N. Second Ave. Meetings are televised over cable Channel 7. Trustees will hear a report on the new state funding formula and plans to include community input in budget planning. The board will vote on an unspecified retirement incentive and contracts with district teachers and support staff. Trustees will also be asked to approve a 2.5 percent raise from current levels and a one-time 2 percent bonus for management, administrative staff and themselves. RIPON TO MEET
The Ripon Unified School District board will meet at 7 p.m. today in the Ripon City Hall council chambers, 259 Wilma Ave. Trustees will hold a public hearing on approving a waiver for 27.5 pupils per teacher at the California Connections @ Ripon Charter School. The board will discuss whether to implement Common Core integrated math. Trustees will hear a $4.1 million proposal for solar projects from Chevron, to be paid with savings from the districts $313,000 annual electricity bill. VALLEY CHARTER HIGH OPEN HOUSE
Valley Charter High School will have an open house 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the school, 108 Campus Way, Modesto. Parents and prospective students can meet teachers and current students to learn more about the programs offered in collaboration with Modesto Junior College and how to enroll. A robotics league match will be running during the open house, showcasing robotics opportunities for younger siblings. There are a few openings in grades nine through 11 for spring semester in classroom-based and independent-learning programs. PARENT FINANCIAL TRAINING
The Modesto City Schools Special Education Community Advisory Committee and the Family Resource Network will present a free parent training on financial and estate-planning issues for families of children with special needs. The training is from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the district office, 425 Locust St., in the staff development center. It is open to the public, and Spanish translation will be provided.
