Jordan W. Hickman: Wood Colony has much to offer

January 11, 2014

I may not be a resident of Wood Colony, but I seem to enjoy everything it has to offer. The fresh air. The agriculture. The nice people who make the land what it is.

Modesto has many places that show nothing but hopelessness and despair for those that live in the inner city. Showing nothing but failure through the empty buildings that should be flourishing, they are just sitting wasting away valuable space for inner-city businesses. It makes Modesto a place people would not want to stay for the rest of their lives.

I graduated with people who figured Modesto isn’t a place for someone to flourish. But they were wrong. Drive down Dakota, roll down the window and take in the fresh air. Take in the beauty Wood Colony has to offer. Then maybe you’ll actually be able to see the true hope and beauty for our generation and others to come. Wood Colony is beautiful the way it is: not paved over and polluted.
