Bee contest to pick opening act for B.B. King

Bee Staff ReportsJanuary 10, 2014

B.B. King will perform at the Gallo Center for the Arts on Feb. 25. Voting on audition clips for his opening act runs through Jan. 31.

One lucky acoustic blues act will get to perform at the Gallo Center for the Arts before B.B. King takes the stage Feb. 25.

The Gallo Center and The Modesto Bee are sponsoring a contest in which Modesto-area acoustic blues acts – solo, duet, trio or quartet – will vie for the chance to be the warm-up act for the blues legend.

Submissions of 30-second videos will be taken through Thursday. Voting on audition clips runs from Friday through Jan. 31.

The results of the vote will be sent to B.B. King’s management, which will make the final determination of who performs a roughly 20-minute set at the center’s Mary Stuart Rogers Theater on Feb. 25.
