What: REPUBLICAN WOMEN FEDERATED MEETING

What: CONTINUED LEARNING INFORMATIONAL MEETING

Info: The Modesto City Schools Special Education Community Advisory Committee and the Family Resource Network will hold a free parent training on financial and estate planning issues for families of children with special needs. The training is open to the public, and Spanish translation will be provided. What: E-BOOK TRAINING

Info: The Turlock Library is offering free e-book training. Attendees can learn how to download free e-books from the library’s catalog. Hughson

What: LEGOS AT THE LIBRARY

When: Wednesday, 3 p.m.

Where: Hughson library, 2412-A Third St.

Info: Legos will take over the Hughson library as children will be able to create masterpieces that will remain on display in the library. This program is designed for ages 4 to 12. YESTERYEARS

75 YEARS AGO: Increasing demands for socialized medicine were addressed at a San Joaquin County meeting. The California Medical Association’s prepayment medical and hospital plan being created to aid the general public was outlined by Dr. Roblee. The doctor said the call for socialized medicine came from farm bureaus, unions and the general public. However, the plan was not without criticisms, Dr. Alex Anderson of Fresno felt anything other than private practice would be a deterioration of the quality of medical service. –
