YESTERYEARS

40 YEARS AGO: Several Stanislaus County school districts delayed the start of classes in the morning to avoid children walking to and from bus stops in the dark. The districts – Keyes, Chatom, Knights Ferry, Shiloh and Manteca – chose to begin school two hours later, at 10 a.m., and end at 4:30 p.m.
