Seven people, including three children, escaped major injury when their vehicles collided in downtown Modesto on Tuesday morning.

A minivan carrying two adults collided with a Chevrolet Silverado pickup carrying two women and three children at Sixth and I streets shortly before 11 a.m.

The impact sent the truck onto its side. The occupants of the truck got out of the vehicle on their own; emergency responders secured the occupants of the minivan to backboards for transportation to a local hospital.

Modesto Regional Fire Battalion Chief Hugo Patino said the injuries all appeared to be minor, but that everyone involved was going to the hospital as a precautionary measure. I Street eastbound was closed in the area while emergency responders cleared the scene.
