Modesto man pleads guilty in child porn case

January 6, 2014

A 31-year-old Modesto man faces at least 10 years in prison after pleading guilty Monday to possessing child pornography, according to the U.S. attorney’s office in Sacramento.

Albert Morales entered the plea after authorities say he was found Feb. 1 in possession of 300 to 600 images of minors depicted in sexually explicit conduct. Morales, who has a prior conviction, will be sentenced March 17.

“Tragically, this case is not an anomaly – it’s all too common for child sexual predators to reoffend,” Mike Prado, resident agent in charge for Homeland Security Investigations in Fresno, said in a news release. “That’s why HSI and its law enforcement partners must remain unceasingly vigilant. It’s the only way to protect our youth and ensure that individuals, like this defendant, are held accountable for their crimes.”
