TURLOCK — Power went out for several hours in downtown Turlock after a car struck a utility pole at Golden State Boulevard and Crane Avenue about 4:30 a.m. Saturday.
The driver sustained injuries, but they were not considered life-threatening, said Lt. Miguel Pacheco of the Turlock police. South Golden State Boulevard was closed for several hours following the crash at Crane Avenue, said Pacheco, as the Turlock Irrigation District worked to repair downed lines.
Power was restored to roughly half the 30 or so affected businesses by 5:35 a.m., said TID spokesman Herb Smart. By 9:30 a.m. only three businesses remained without power.
It took until 2:55 p.m. for crews to replace the 50-foot power pole and 300 feet of downed line and restore power to Sunsports, 10 East and the Turlock Chamber of Commerce, Smart said.
