XEB band

Come see some of the original members of popular 1990s group Third Eye Blind play as part of their new project, XEB. The band features founding former Third Eye Blind lead guitarist Kevin Cadogan and bassist Arion Salazar along with singer John Stephens. The two former band mates reunited in December 2011 and have been playing old hits and new originals as XEB since.

Nabucco opera

See your opera at the movies as Verdi’s “Nabucco” comes to Modesto’s State Theatre. The Opera in Cinema series continues with a filmed stage performance of the production from the Teatro alla Scala in Milan. The biblical opera includes what many consider some of the greatest choral music ever composed. The story is based on the Babylonian emperor Nabucco (Nebuchadnezzar) and his divine punishment and final salvation. Baritone Leo Nucci stars in the title role. The opera is sung in Italian.

Sierra Rep Youth Workshop

The Sierra Rep Jr. workshop will begin a monthlong program for children ages 4-18 starting Monday. The workshops will be split into two ages groups: children 4 to 9 and ages 10 to 18. The workshops, which will feature theater exercises, games, songs and dances, will all be led by the company’s new education director, Ralph Krumins. Organization expert

If your New Year’s resolution was to get organized, here’s your chance. Nationally recognized organization expert Deniece Schofield will lead two seminars on the topic in Modesto this week. The author of five books on home management and organization was called “the most organized person on earth” by Publisher’s Weekly and has contributed regularly to Woman’s Day magazine. Her seminar will include tips on keeping a neat house, scheduling and more.
