Read to a Dog program is back

December 31, 2013

Therapy dogs will be back at the Stanislaus County Library during February. Read to a Dog, a free program, pairs independent readers ages 4 to 12 with certified therapy dogs. In each 15-minute session, a child has the opportunity to read a book to the dog. The dog patiently listens to the child read, which helps the child build confidence in his or her reading ability and communication skills. Registration begins Jan. 18. Availability is limited, so interested parties are encouraged to register early. The library is at 1500 I St. For available times and more information about the program, call the children’s department at (209) 558-7810.
