Police: Boy and girl suffer gunshot wounds in Newman

— A boy and a girl suffered gunshot wounds on Sunday evening, the Newman Police Department reported. The victims’ names and ages were not released, nor was their condition.

Officers responded to a 6:42 p.m. call about a shooting victim on the 1200 block of Merced Street. They found the boy suffering from multiple shots to the upper body, the report said. Officers then got a report that the girl was on the 500 block of Real Court with a wound to a lower extremity.

Police believe the shootings happened on the 1500 block of Q Street, but that has not been confirmed.
