Stroke support

The Stroke Support Group is open to anyone that has survived a stroke. Family, friends and caregivers are also welcome. Meeting are from 4 to 5:30 p.m. on the second Thursday of every month at Mercy Medical Pavilion, third floor, classroom A, 315 Mercy Ave. There is no cost or registration requirement to attend. 12-step program

CoDA is a 12-step program that helps co-dependent people have healthy and loving relationships. The group meets from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at 500 Buena Vista Drive in the First Baptist Church administration building.

Holiday party

Celebrate with the Twi’ Lighters from 6 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. on New Year’s Eve at the American Legion Hall, 939 W. Main St. Music will include Latin, country, salsa and old-school. Limo transportation will be available from 11 p.m. to 1 a.m., one-way only. Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door. For more information, call (209) 626-6105 or (209) 356-8676.

New Year’s Eve dance

Club Mercedes will hold a New Year’s Eve Dance from 6:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. Tuesday at 569 W. Ninth St. Force ’em will play. The cost is $15 per person, and people must be 21 years old or older to enter. A full beverage bar and snack bar will be open for purchases. Call (209) 383-9906.

Masquerade ball

Merced County Food Bank will have a masquerade ball titled “Hunger Has No Face.” There will be wine, cheese, appetizer tasting, a raffle and live music. The event is from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. Tuesday at Playhouse Merced, 452 W. Main St. Ticket price is $30 per person. Tickets include midnight champagne or apple cider toast, breakfast item table and auction. To purchase tickets call (209) 726-FOOD. Masks are optional and will be available for purchase. A sober ride home will be provided.

Overeaters Anonymous

Overeaters Anonymous meets at 6 p.m. on Tuesdays at the First Baptist Church, 500 Buena Vista Drive. Call (209) 383-4161 or go to www.oa.org for more information.

Atwater art classes

The Atwater Baptist Church offers art classes on Thursdays at the church from 9 a.m. to noon. Call (209) 358-2570 for more information.

Support for mental illness

Merced County’s branch of the National Alliance on Mental Illness holds biweekly support groups for families affected by serious mental illness. For more information, call (209) 381-6844 and a volunteer will contact you within 48 hours.
