10 YEARS AGO: Doctors Medical Center of Modesto is scrutinized for having some of the highest charges in California as well as overcharging the uninsured, like Tom Kucera of Patterson, who testified before the Assembly Health Committee about his $48,000 bill for a two-day stay at Doctors. Meanwhile, Memorial Medical Center launches the first phase of its $160 million expansion project, a 40,000-square-foot medical office and six-story parking garage. Kaiser also continues plans for a 200-bed facility.

Modesto Bee is pleased to provide this opportunity to share information, experiences and observations about what's in the news. Some of the comments may be reprinted elsewhere in the site or in the newspaper. We encourage lively, open debate on the issues of the day, and ask that you refrain from profanity, hate speech, personal comments and remarks that are off point. Thank you for taking the time to offer your thoughts.
