City of Modesto’s chief information officer takes Oakland job

— The city of Modesto’s chief information officer, Bryan M. Sastokas, is leaving to take the same job with city of Oakland.

Sastokas has been responsible for leading the city’s technology initiatives, as well as the adoption of regional technology throughout multiple public and private agencies.

Sastokas was on the executive team responsible for the modernization of the Stanislaus Regional 911 Computer Aided Dispatch system under the Stanislaus Regional 911 joint-powers agreement between the city and Stanislaus County.

In addition, under his leadership, the city was selected by the Center for Digital Government as a top 10 Digital City for 2011, ’12 and ’13 and received the 2012 Quality in IT Practices Award and 2013 Excellence in IT Practices Award from the Municipal Information Systems Association of California.

Sastokas has been with Modesto for two years eight months with a salary of $148,707. His last day with the city is Jan. 17.
