MODESTO — Officials on Monday released the name of the man who died after being removed from a burning home Friday night.
Don Sheets, 57, died Saturday from injuries suffered in the fire, which broke out in the 200 block of Floto Street at about 7:30 p.m. Friday. Modesto Regional Fire Authority firefighters pulled Sheets from a window of the small home. Emergency medical responders resuscitated Sheets before taking him to a hospital, where he died.
Stanislaus County Deputy Coroner Tom Killian said Monday the cause of death had not been determined, pending an autopsy.
On Monday, Battalion Chief Sean Slamon said an investigation into the cause of the fire continues. Authorities earlier said the fire did not appear to be suspicious.
