Fashion and art show

FAME: Fashion & Art – The Merced Experience is a show designed to showcase community artists, performers, businesses, boutiques and fashion designers. It is from 6:30 to 9 p.m. tonight at the Merced Civic Center, 678 W. 18th St. FAME offers a night of entertainment and excitement that focuses on what Merced has to offer in terms of art and fashion. Tickets are $10.

Christmas Eve run

The Christmas Eve Fun Run will be held at 10 a.m. The run will be up to five miles and will start at Applegate Park at 26th and O streets. Runners, joggers and walkers are welcome. Bring a small wrapped present for the gift exchange. For more information, call (209) 722-4428.

Christmas Eve service

The Le Grand United Methodist Church Christmas Eve service of candles and carols will be held in the sanctuary at the corner of Washington and Adams Street in Le Grand at 6 p.m. Dec. 24. Pastor Tikko Lesuma will conduct the service. The Le Grand community and any others are welcome to join with the congregation to help celebrate Christ’s birth. Social dance

A Sunday social dance with music by Just Friends will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Dec. 29 at the Merced Community Center ballroom, 755 W. 15th St. Doors will open at 1 p.m. The cost is $8. For more information, call (209) 723-0839.

Difficult childhood?

If you struggle with depression, anxiety or anger, it may be a lingering response to a difficult childhood. ACE Overcomers is a program that will help you cope with the effects of a difficult childhood. It is a 12-week course that equips you to understand and overcome the patterns of thought and behavior that are self-defeating. ACE begins a new free class in January. Vietnam veterans group

The local chapter of the Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 0691, welcomes new members. To qualify, a person must have served during the Vietnam War era. For more information, call (209) 381-0451 or visit at 450 W. 21st St., Merced.

Volunteers needed

Volunteers are needed to staff a warming tent for the community’s most needy and at-risk people during the colder months – December through March. Many people have nowhere else to spend cold nights and do not have access to official shelters. The tent is on “B” Street near 13th Street.
