A festive swirl of color and culture will envelop the audience at the Posada Navideña.
The popular Mexican holiday production will return for two sold-out shows Saturday at the Gallo Center for the Arts.
The Christmas celebration is put on by Compañía Mazatlán Bellas Artes de Sacramento. The vibrant event features some 20 dancers and 16 musicians.
This year’s presentation includes a traditional Christmas processional (posada), Mexican holiday songs (villancicos) and a visit from the Three Wise Men, all filled with the spirit of the mariachi fiesta.
The production has been a favorite each holiday season at the Gallo Center since 2009. Gallo Marketing Director Doug Hosner said it has become a holiday tradition for many families.
“Posada Navideña is popular at the center because it’s beautifully staged and because it provides a holiday tradition for our Latino patrons that is not unlike the tradition of going to see ‘The Nutcracker’ every season,” he said.
Compañía Mazatlán Bellas Artes de Sacramento has performed the traditional mix of Mexican music and dance regionally and internationally since 2000.
