FBI looking for ‘Bad Beard Bandit,’ suspected of Manteca, Ripon robberies

The FBI is asking for the public’s help identifying a man believed to be connected to five bank robberies in Northern California cities, including Manteca and Ripon, over the past month.

While a weapon has not been seen during the robberies, the FBI considers the man armed and dangerous.

The stocky white or Latino man in his late 20s or early 30s donned a dark, poor-quality fake beard during each robbery. He is 5 feet, 9 inches tall with dark brown or black hair and has worn blue jeans, ball caps, hooded sweatshirts and lightweight, zip-front jackets.

The Bad Beard Bandit robbed the Bank of the West in Ripon on Nov. 21 and a Chase Bank in Manteca on Nov. 26. He’s also suspected in bank robberies in Tracy on Dec. 3, Dublin on Dec. 4 and Sunnyvale on Dec. 10.

The robberies are being investigated by multiple law enforcement agencies, including the FBI, and police departments in Ripon, Manteca, Tracy, Dublin and Sunnyvale.

Anyone with information regarding these robberies can contact the FBI in Stockton at (209) 474-8293. Additional details and photos are available on the FBI’s Wanted Bank Robbers website: https://bankrobbers.fbi.gov.
