MODESTO — The Salvation Army wants Christmas to be a little more special for the Modesto-area families it is helping this year.
The group would like to provide two toys and a stocking stuffer for these families children, up from one toy and one stocking stuffer. The toys are for children as old as 12 and can include such items as dolls, board games, footballs and other sports equipment. Miniature cars make great stocking stuffers.
The Salvation Army still needs help reaching its goal of one toy and stocking stuffer per child, especially for children up to the age of 5.
The group will be providing Christmas food as well as additional food and the toys Dec. 21 to about 1,300 low-income families, who typically have three to four children up to the age of 12.
Toys can be dropped off from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays at the Modesto Citadel Corps, 625 I St.
