Modesto in search of city's top teens

December 11, 2013

Modesto is seeking high school juniors and seniors for its Mayor’s Top Teens program. The yearlong program recognizes and celebrates teens and provides them with opportunities to become involved in their community, develop as leaders and meet other successful Modesto teens. Juniors and seniors can be nominated for the program, which is entering its third year, and nominees must live in the city. Nominees should have any combination of the following: have overcome an obstacle, such as a personal or family challenge; made service a part of their lives; and accomplished something of significance. The deadline to submit a nomination is Jan. 10. More information, including forms to nominate a teen, is available at www.modestogov.com/council/topteens. For more information, call (209) 571-5169.

Modesto Bee is pleased to provide this opportunity to share information, experiences and observations about what's in the news. Some of the comments may be reprinted elsewhere in the site or in the newspaper. We encourage lively, open debate on the issues of the day, and ask that you refrain from profanity, hate speech, personal comments and remarks that are off point. Thank you for taking the time to offer your thoughts.
