Regarding the Dec. 3 article titled, MID board told of path to price hike (Page B1, Dec. 3), I have two questions:
In paragraph eight, the reporter wrote, Farming advocates say agriculture should get credit for replenishing groundwater. How can advocates say this when several Bee articles have reported that farmers are digging deeper wells and thereby withdrawing more water from the water table below?
Paragraph 10 reports of presentations warning against financial conflicts of interest. How is it that new director John Mensinger does not perceive himself as having a conflict of interest as owner of American Lumber, which does a lot of business with Modesto Irrigation District?
As an MID customer, I would be interested in having these questions answered.
