Noah R. McCarty: Limit government snooping

December 10, 2013

Regarding “Big tech companies lash out at government snooping” (modbee.com, Dec. 9): With all the technology we have on the Internet, it is easier for someone to get someone else’s personal information. Just because we can doesn’t mean we need to do so – and that doesn’t exclude the government.

They might be the people who help run our country, but that doesn’t mean they need to always be checking sites for people’s personal information. They don’t need to check for this type of information unless there is a specific and necessary reason. It doesn’t seem right that they are doing it secretly. I know that in certain circumstances checking for information is OK. I just hope that we will be able to get on even ground with the government about snooping.
