Stanislaus County group seeks nominations for Outstanding Women Awards

— Nominations are open for the 2014 Stanislaus County Commission for Women’s Outstanding Women Awards. In addition to outstanding women, there are honors for women of history, living pioneers and young women (high school seniors to age 24, which includes a $500 cash scholarship).

Nominees should have made a meaningful contribution to the quality of life for all women and children. A nominee could be a trailblazer who began an important program or took on a challenging cause, a woman who has been first to achieve a significant accomplishment in her field, a woman who has been an inspirational role model, or a representative in government who stands up for the issues of women and children.

Nomination forms are available at all Stanislaus County libraries, can be downloaded at or can be requested by emailing They must be postmarked or arrive by email no later than Jan. 11.

Awards will be presented March 15.

The Stanislaus County Commission for Women is an independent, nongovernmental organization to promote within the community an awareness of issues that concern women.
