Stocking Stuffers: Sonora students made something beautiful out of something scary

pguerra@modbee.comDecember 8, 2013

A planned arts class with local artist Tracy Knopf became a way to let students at Curtis Creek Elementary School in Sonora work through the scary experience of the Rim fire, which struck far too close to home for many of them. Thirteen students took part in the project, and their work now graces a 2014 calendar that is being sold to benefit the arts and science activities of the Gifted and Talented Education program at the one-school district. Throughout the holiday season, we are offering suggestions of gifts of $20 or under, available at local merchants.

Item: Rim fire calendar

Price: $10
