Celebration of Lights

Light up with the spirit of the season at the annual City of Modesto Celebration of Lights parade. The parade, which loops through downtown, will include brightly illuminated floats, marching bands, fire trucks, horses, clowns and more. This year the parade and participants will celebrate “Holidays in Whoville” in tribute to Dr. Seuss.

Dickens Faire

Downtown Modesto time warps into the Victorian era every year for the Dickens Faire and Modesto Certified Farmers Market. The McHenry Mansion gets gussied up for the season and costumed docents roam the grounds. Father Christmas hands out candy canes while shoppers browse a Victorian Christmas Market.

Gift of Song

The Youth Entertainment Stage Company returns for its holiday benefit show Gift of Song IV. The YES Company music review and sing-along concert will feature 25 cast members ages 9 to 17. The new program will feature holiday classics, carols and seasonal sons. The event is dedicated to the memory of longtime Modesto and arts supporter Bette Belle Smith and proceeds will go to the Costa Family Fund, which provides arts experiences at the Gallo Center for underprivileged students.

Carolfest

The California State University, Stanislaus, School of the Arts and Department of Music are presenting their annual holiday choral concert “Carolfest.” Join the CSU Stanislaus choral ensembles, under the direction of the university’s Director of Choral and Vocal Studies Daniel R. Afonso Jr., in a show filled with traditional carols. The audience will be invited to join the choirs throughout the concert.

Wind in the Willows

Take a wild ride with Mr. Toad and friends at Modesto Junior College’s production of “The Wind in The Willows.” The childhood classic has been adapted for the stage to bring to life the woodland adventures of Mr. Toad and his friends Mr. Rat, Mr. Mole and Mrs. MacBadger and more. The play is based on the beloved turn-of-the-20th-century story by Kenneth Grahame.

Holday Craft Faire
