Mitch Rudoff: No obstruction of Justice this time

December 4, 2013

I’m recalling October’s World Series game in which the Red Sox’s third baseman was on the ground, blocking the oncoming St. Louis runner and then becoming entangled with him. The umpire gave the runner a free pass to home plate, winning the game for the Cardinals and making that play unforgettable. The only thing I want to add is this: If David Justice had been the runner, would it have been called “Obstruction of Justice”?
