It must be the atmosphere here in Modesto. How else can you explain the lack of courtesy on the part of Modesto drivers? (Im a native of Modesto; born and grew up here.)
My wife and I walk every day. In the course of our walks we have to cross Floyd Avenue twice. As we step off the curb into the crosswalk with a car far away enough to see us with plenty of time to stop, its funny how we seem to become absolutely invisible even in bright sunlight.
I wonder if the drivers feel that, as motorists, they have the right of way. It really makes me angry that there is such a lack of courtesy on the part of the those who drive Modestos streets. I am not a perfect driver, but I always try to stop for pedestrians if I see them in or near a crosswalk. Give those attempting to cross a street a brake.
