ATWATER — The Atwater Police Department’s Cops for Kids parade is around the corner, and officials say it’s an opportunity to give back to children who are less fortunate.
This year’s parade will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Dec.14, according to Atwater Police Lt. Sam Joseph.
The parade has been held for more than 10 years and allows people to bring unwrapped toys to be given to children in need on Christmas Eve.
“We want people to know they’re welcome to come and there will be an opportunity to donate gifts for needy children,” Joseph said. “We want as many people as possible to come out.”
The parade will start at Burger King on Bellevue Road and Winton Way. It will then travel east on Bellevue to the Community Center, Joseph said.
Refreshments will be served and children will have the opportunity to have a photo taken with Santa Claus.
