Oakdale City Council to discuss fire agency merger

November 24, 2013

— The Oakdale City Council plans a Dec. 9 discussion of a proposed three-way merger of fire agencies.

Under the plan, the Oakdale Fire Department and the Oakdale Rural Fire Protection District would merge into the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Protection District, which covers much of central and eastern Stanislaus County.

The merger, intended to save money in a time of tight budgets for fire agencies, needs approval from the Stanislaus Local Agency Formation Commission.

The meeting will be at 6 p.m. at the Gene Bianchi Community Center, 110 S. Second Ave., Oakdale.
