Cannella invites ideas for new laws

Sen. Anthony Cannella, R-Ceres, is having an unusual contest – “There Ought to a Be a Law.”

It gives constituents of his 12th District the opportunity to present ideas for new legislation.

“Some of the best ideas we have for legislation have come from members of the community that see the need for a change,” Cannella explained in a news release. “For example, this year, we had a bill that came from a suggestion that ended up becoming the first law in the nation to criminalize cyber-revenge.”

People have until Dec. 20 to submit proposals. Contest winners will be invited to Sacramento to testify at a hearing on their bills. Applications are available on Cannella’s website:
