The helmet of a motorcyclist who died Saturday afternoon (11-16-13) sits behind police tape in the intersection of Santa Fe Avenue and Tully Rd. in Hughson while CHP officers conduct their reports regarding the fatal accident which occurred around 1:30 p.m. According to CHP Sergeant Zells, a white male in his mid thirties who was assisting with traffic during a funeral procession, proceeded to pass the procession traveling northbound on Santa Fe when for an unknown reason the rider fell onto the road to eventually die at the scene. The intersection was closed for over an hour and members of the funeral procession and the Jus Brothers Motorcycle Club's Turlock branch consoled each other and grieved further.
A 34-year Turlock man died Saturday when the motorcycle he was riding crashed in Hughson.
At about 1:30 p.m., the man was assisting with traffic during a funeral procession near Santa Fe Avenue and Tully Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.
As the other motorcyclists traveled through the intersection, the rider tried to catch up but lost control, the CHP said.
The intersection was closed for more than an hour.
