Kyle Morris Lingg: Somerset memories

November 15, 2013

In reference to the Nov. 9 letter “Somerset School memories”: I was thrilled to read Lenore Shively’s memories of her years teaching at Somerset. I was in Mrs. Shively’s eighth-grade class at Sylvan when the nearby middle school was about to open. With her encouragement, I wrote the winning essay that named the new school Somerset and I won a U.S. savings bond. I still have a picture of Superintendent Coleman Brown presenting it to me.

I was so happy to see Mrs. Shively again at a recent event. I hope everyone has at least one teacher like her during their school experience.
