Jamie Hancock: What’s our policy on illegal aliens?

November 14, 2013

What is the state’s policy on illegal aliens’ drivers license? Can anyone in this country illegally come to California and get their license? If, let’s say, you’re a Middle Eastern illegal alien, do you have the same rights as a South American illegal alien? These are important issues; every illegal alien, no matter what country they say they’re from, should be treated equally.

Editor’s Note: Assembly Bill 60, which passed the Legislature and was signed by the governor, does not become effective until Jan. 1, 2015. The Department of Motor Vehicles is drafting the regulations to put the new law into effect, including how applicants can prove their identity and prove that they are California residents. AB 60 did not make any mention of country of origin.
