QUESTION OF THE WEEK

Question of the Week: What issue or cause is important to you?

November 13, 2013

Taylor Menezes, senior, Central Catholic High School

Lately, I’ve been really into taking a stand against bullying since one of my friends transferred schools because of it. Bullying is wrong for any reason and needs to be put to a stop. Going to a Catholic school, you would think that bullying wouldn’t happen; but it did and it completely disgusts me. She (my friend) never did anything to any of you and it’s not her fault that you all thought she was different than you. I’m sad that she left, but I’m happy to know she’s better off at the school she transferred into. It’s people like this, the ones who bully for no reason, that make me ashamed to tell people I go to CCHS, and I shouldn’t have to feel that way. At this point, I am so heated about the whole bullying topic that I’m ready to raise awareness about it everywhere.

Toshali Katyal, junior, Modesto High School

This is anti-bullying month at my school. Bullying is a widespread problem that is often dissolved in the midst of other issues, despite its vital role in people’s lives. Awareness on its prevention must be raised because of the long-lasting effects of bullying and the way it can shape the future.
