Modesto police: Man arrested after threats to kill family with torch

— A Modesto man threatening to murder family members with fire was arrested late Saturday with no injuries to those involved, authorities said.

Stanislaus County sheriff’s deputies busted into a bedroom in the 1000 block of Paradise Road where Roger Ortega, 38, had locked himself with a torch at 10:15 p.m., the Sheriff’s Department reported.

Ortega surrendered and was booked on suspicion of making terrorist threats and methamphetamine possession, the report said.
