TURLOCK — Police in Turlock are investigating an accident that killed a motorcyclist Friday night.
According to Sgt. Stephen Webb, the accident occurred about 10:25 p.m. at West Main Street and Tegner Road.
The motorcyclist, identified only as a 19-year-old man from Denair, was riding a Harley-Davidson west on West Main at more than 70 mph.
The motorcyclist started braking for traffic stopped in front of him when the bike started to skid. The motorcycle went down, sliding hundreds of feet.
The rider flew off the motorcycle and slid into the back of a car that had stopped for traffic.
Though he was wearing a helmet, he suffered fatal injuries.
Police closed the road for several hours while they investigated. They have not determined whether drugs or alcohol factored in the crash.
