Language skills getting recognized in Modesto

November 9, 2013

Students who have proven themselves proficient in English and a second or third language will be honored 7 p.m. Thursday at the Petersen Event Center, 720 12th St., Modesto.

This year, 109 students have passed written and oral presentations and on-demand tasks to earn the Seal of Multilingual Proficiency on their high school transcripts through the Stanislaus County Office of Education.

This year’s languages were Spanish, Romanian, Punjabi, Farsi, Assyrian and French. One student, Alexandro Berumen of Patterson High School, passed fluency tests in Spanish, French and English.
