The bad news is that the forecast in the foreseeable future calls for beautiful, sunny days and chilly nights. Though conditions are gorgeous, a system moving into the area that promised the hope of rain early next week appears to be slowing, the National Weather Service said. Any precipitation it brings likely will be confined to the Sierra and coastal areas. That would leave the Northern San Joaquin Valley rainless through mid-November, a month that typically brings nearly 11/2 inches of rain, according to Modesto Irrigation District records.
