Another successful young candidate

November 8, 2013

Our Thursday editorial about election results singled out two young men, Jake Wenger and Jordan Dickson, who won seats. A reader pointed out another young winner: Joshua Whitfield, 26, who won a seat on the Waterford City Council. Whitfield, a U.S. Army veteran, has been active in local politics for several years. He helped Hughson citizens with their 2010 recall of three councilmen there, and he ran previously for the Waterford council in 2008, but dropped out of the race for health reasons. He was injured while serving in Iraq with the U.S. Army. His determination was reflected in a May 6, 2008, story headlined “GI itching to rejoin Iraq unit.”
