Two retired educators take lead in Stanislaus County Board of Education race

November 5, 2013

— Two retired educators appeared to have won two seats on the Stanislaus County Board of Education. In Area 2 (Turlock-Hughson), Alice J. Pollard, who recently retired after 28 years as a teacher and administrator in Turlock, had 60 percent of the vote, well ahead of Christopher Barth, a Hughson farmer and business owner. Incumbent Merle Kronberg had not sought re-election.

In Area 5 (the west side), retired Valley Charter High School principal and longtime real estate man Bob Vizzolini of Newman led with 62 percent of the vote over Adriana Garcia of Patterson, a community organizer for the Diocese of Stockton and Congregations Building Communities. Garcia was supported by Luis Molina, who did not seek a third term to the county board.
