TURLOCK The California State University, Stanislaus women's soccer team did something no other Warrior team has ever done on Sunday. They completed a perfect season. No losses, no ties. Just 22 victories.
Super senior Karenee Demery score two goals as the Warriors beat CSU East Bay 4-0. That finalized the Warriors' record at 22-0-0 and marks them as the team to beat in the California Collegiate Athletic Association championships this weekend.
Perhaps it's time to consider some of the Warriors' accomplishments:
They completed the first unbeaten, untied CCAA season in 15 years, matching the record set by Sonoma State in 1998.
They gave head coach Gabriel Bolton his 100th career victory.
They scored 47 goals this season breaking the record they set last year. They also have 50 assists and 144 points.
They broke their own record for wins, surpassing last year's 15.
Demery broke the team's single-season scoring record with her 21st goal.
They achieved a national NCAA Division II ranking of sixth, matching their previous high-water mark.
In Sunday's win, after Cal State East Bay gave Stanislaus the 1-0 lead on an own goal, Demery went to work. Sabrina Williamson assisted on Demery's first score at 64:49 and Katelyn Nebesnick helped on Demery's second score at 69:41.
The top seeded Warriors will face either Cal State Los Angeles or UC San Diego on Friday at 7 p.m. Sonoma State and CSU San Bernardino will play in the other semifinal at 4:30 p.m.
