Ed Washington: Money the city has already wasted

November 2, 2013

Regarding “Eminent domain case cost city $300,000" (Oct. 26, Page B-1): OK, let me see if I got this right. Dan Nickles says their claim could have been settled for $100,000.

City Attorney Susana Alcala Wood said that is “hogwash.” Regardless, I think the case could have been settled for a lot less than the $182,277 the city spent on an outside attorney and the money Nickles, his wife and their attorney will get.

In the same article, the Modesto senior civil engineer Vicky Dion states that the city will spend $4 million to put roundabout at Kodiak Drive and Roselle Avenue. Now that is hogwash. You can put a traffic signal in that intersection for $100,000. So tell me again why I should vote for Measure X?
