MODESTO — A judge has rescheduled a Jan. 6 preliminary hearing for a 45-year-old Modesto man accused of shooting to death his girlfriend last year.
Tom Franks has been charged with murder in the death of Jacqueline Millan. The shooting occurred about 9:40 p.m. May 4, 2012, in the 1600 block of Vernon Avenue, a few blocks northeast of Paradise and Carpenter roads.
Stanislaus County sheriffs deputies found the wounded woman on the ground near the road in front of a home on Vernon.
The deputies searched the home and found Franks inside. Millan, 48, died at a hospital six days later.
