Robin Koski: Principal is mentor

October 25, 2013

I have been graced with an amazing principal as a mentor at Somerset Middle School. I first met Patricia Lingerfelt in 1986, when she visited my second-grade class at Standiford Elementary School. Shortly after, she was hired as a teacher in the Sylvan Union School District and worked at C. F. Brown. She later opened Ustach Middle School.

Lingerfelt returned to Sylvan as our principal in 2012-13. She has since been infinitely supportive as my ever-changing, challenging and diverse student population needs more attention, time and assistance to help prepare them for high school, college and careers. She volunteers to work with a portion of my students for up to four days a week, using a specific, structured curriculum. She is dedicated to doing what students need in order to be successful.
