MODESTO — Police are looking for a man and a woman who stole cash from a Society for the Handicapped Children and Adults thrift store earlier this month.
The theft occurred Oct. 7 but only came to light Tuesday, due to technical problems with the stores camera system.
According to police, the man and woman entered the store in the 3100 block of McHenry Avenue at about 4:30 p.m. The woman distracted an employee while the man manipulated a cash register until it opened, taking the cash from inside.
The man closed the register drawer and left the store with the woman.
Employees provided police with photos of the suspects. They are described as a black man in his 40s with a bald head and a black woman in her 40s with short hair. They were driving a dark-colored newer Volvo.
Detectives ask anyone with information on the burglary or the suspects to call Crime Stoppers at (209) 521-4636. Callers to Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward.
