With zombies chasing you, its best to run fast. These kings of horror, which have grown in popularity since George Romeros 1968 cult classic Night of the Living Dead, descended on Woodward Reservoir in Oakdale for the Dash of the Dead on Saturday.
Participants registered as zombies or runners in the 5K obstacle race. Some 400 runners went under, over and through obstacles in a frantic race to avoid the zombies to the finish line.
About 90 people registered as zombies. They had two aims: scare runners and grab life-flags off the belts of runners.
Watching the whole affair were family and friends in the spectator zone. The race ended with music, food and games, with part of the proceeds going to the Escalon track team.
