As a constituent of Rep. Jeff Denham, I was naturally interested in how he voted on Wednesdays bill to end the government shutdown and raise the debt ceiling. Being unable to find that information on his website, I called his office and was told he voted no, meaning he voted to continue the shutdown and break the debt ceiling, with all the needless pain and economic damage that it caused.
Asked why his vote wasnt on his website, his aide said it was and told me how to find it. They led me through various links that werent at all clear and which I would never have been able to navigate on my own. Asking why his vote on this very important bill wasnt on his home page or, at least, easily found, elicited no satisfactory response. Based on todays (and previous) attempts to use his own website to find how hes voted leads me to conclude that he doesnt want his constituents to know (or easily learn) how he votes. In other words, hes a coward and a hypocrite; which is to say, a tea-party Republican.
