Edwin Silva: We need letters’ brutal honesty

October 18, 2013

In response to “Latino stereotype disrespectful” (Oct. 12, Letters): Although fundamentally I agree with your viewpoint how a lot of valley residents totally dismiss any and all brown faces as ne’er do wells and stab-happy thug, I applaud and advocate the editor for publishing these anti-Latino letters. Why? Because, kind sir, isn’t it better to have an open honest forum? I would rather be in the know.

Good editors are like the Swiss; they do not take sides, rather they serve as a reflection of our mind state. Personally I want to know how people feel about me. These letters, not unlike the Internet, invite brutal honesty. You, the writer safe from harm, will tell it like it is. I value this give and take highly. Hopefully, Mr. Letter Writer, I’ve swayed your way of thinking.
